9 months!

*Written mid-November!*

Hi everyone!
I've really fallen off the 'blogging' train... as the girls are becoming more mobile... the less couch time I get!

Yep... MOBILE!  Completely unstoppable!  Johnalyn has taken off with crawling, pulling herself up on EVERYTHING, and starting to shimmy across the couch.  She loves to 'walk' when she holds onto our fingers... that girl is busy, and loves every second of it.  She will 'rev her engine' when she's crawling, she scrunches up her nose and breaths really fast out of her nose.  It's so cute!

Danika is now 'Army crawling'/inch worming everywhere.  She gets really frustrated when she wants to do something Johnalyn is but can't figure it out.  She is our thinker. She needs to process how things work before she puts action to it.  Just this morning she started to pull herself up on the laundry basket.. something she's been watching her sister do for awhile and she just couldn't wrap her head around it.. until now!  When she does something that she's been thinking about for so long, she gets SO excited and lets out a huge scream with a smile!

Our whole family came to a halt this past weekend and into the early week.  Saturday evening we heard one of the girls gagging around 10:30, and Donny walked in their room and there was vomit...  Everywhere.  We no more than get Johnalyn cleaned up, and Danika vomited, and then Johnalyn vomited again.  We were pretty traumatized (new parents here!).  We didn't know if it was something we gave them earlier in the day (we started experimenting more with their foods), if it was bad milk we gave them, if it was an allergic reaction.... and they kept vomiting... everywhere.  We didn't get much sleep at all Saturday night, and Sunday they kept vomiting.  Thankfully, we are blessed with wonderful babies and between vomit episodes, they were happy as could be!  Anyway, they started getting better, and by Monday they were on the road to recovery.  Then on Monday night, Donny and I BOTH came down with it!  Danika wasn't vomit free for 24 hours at that point, so we couldn't take both the girls to day care and go home to sleep... so Grandma Cindy came to our rescue.  She took care of Danika while Donny and I proceeded to deal with this 24 hour bug!  Thank you Grandma Cindy!!!  We don't know what we would have done without you!
Anyway, enough about vomit... let's talk about food!

The girls are doing very well with eating solids.  We are trying solids twice a day now.  Daycare will give them oatmeal with a vegetable or fruit, and then for supper we will give them what they didn't get at daycare.  So far they have tried:  Green beans, peas, butternut squash, prunes, and apples.  Obviously, apples is the big winner in their book... with squash being second!  They are also loving peach-flavored puffs, and spinach/veggie 'Mum Mums'.  Danika LOVES solids... which is a relief because it is an absolute challenge to feed her the bottle.  She either hates the bottle/nipple or the formula.  It's gotten to the point where we can only feed her when she's sleeping.  If we try to feed her while awake, she will thrash and scream.  So, we are happy she loves to eat... just wants nothing to do with the bottle.  If anyone has dealt with this or heard of someone with a similar bottle aversion baby... please let me know!  Our pediatrician isn't too concerned, but they don't have to deal with this on a daily basis!

The girls are become more aware of their surroundings and they love to try to harass Shadow.  Shadow minds his own business and just lays on the couch... but he can't play incognito much longer now that the girls are pulling themselves up... they love to get as close as they can to his couch and try to reach for his paws that dangle over the edge.  We don't let them get too close to him, just because he is unpredictable at times, and the last thing we want is for the girls to have a fear of dogs,

I am SO excited to begin celebrating the holidays as a family of four.  I LOVE the this time of year, and I hope to pass the love of Thanksgiving and Christmas onto the girls and begin some fun traditions for our family.  Until next time....
